Our History
Attorney Stephen Manning to speak at League of Women Voters immigration panel

On February 14th, 2012, ILG Attorney Stephen Manning will participate in the panel “Immigration: How it works—Does it?” at the League of Women Voters meeting. The event will center on ICE practices, Secure Communities, and the impact of immigration policies on the region. Atty Manning will be speaking alongside law professor Keith Cunningham-Parmeter and general manager of Fisher Farms John Coulter.

This event is free and open to the public, and will take place at 7:00 pm in the board room of the Multnomah County Building, 501 SE Hawthorne Blvd., Portland, Oregon 97214.

Attorney and Legal Assistant Return to Clackamas High School

On December 1st, 2011, Attorney Jessica Boell and Legal Assistant Shizuko Hashimoto met with students at Clackamas High School to discuss immigration options for youths. Among the topics discussed were the DREAM Act, tuition equity, special juvenile visas, U Visas, and deportations through the criminal justice system. Many of the students in attendance were present for last year’s presentation. Shizuko reports that the students were “very educated and engaged.” Jessica also consulted one-on-one with students.

Tacoma Detention Center Tour

ILG Presses Officials for Immigration Reform

The ILG office cleared out last week as our staff visited the headquarters of our elected officials to lobby them to support comprehensive immigration reform.
