ILG is committed to the unification of family members and a large portion of our practice is working with individuals to maintain united families or to bring separated families together. Although each individual's situation is different, certain family members may qualify to legalize their status through applying to adjust their status within the United States or obtaining an immigrant visa while abroad (consular processing). ILG is able to explore all possible legal options an individual may have to immigrate through family members.

ILG represents refugees who have fled their countries of origin. Many individuals have a "well-founded fear of persecution" and seek asylum within the United States. There are also other options for individuals from certain countries, such as NACARA or TPS. Additionally, we represent clients who fear torture in their countries of origin under the Convention Against Torture. We strive to seek the benefits refugees are entitled to under asylum and related laws.

ILG believes in defending immigrants' civil rights. We work with our clients to correct government errors through negotiation and through litigation. ILG is one of a very small number of immigration law firms in Oregon to have experience in federal court litigation. We believe that appealing decisions to the federal district court or to the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals is an important civil right. We have litigated many federal suits, including asylum appeals, federal court jurisdiction, and the retroactivity of the immigration statutes. We will always seek to protect our clients' rights under the laws and Constitution of the United States.
