ILG Attorneys Give Back
Here at ILG we believe that the most important aspect of our work is advocating for immigrants who are marginalized and discriminated against to make sure that all people living in the US receive equal protection under the law. This is why we are so committed to taking complicated cases, representing clients pro bono, and participating in immigrant rights events and advocacy in our community. One of the roadblocks that undocumented residents often find is the cost of quality representation. It can be very daunting to pay upwards of $200 just to consult with an attorney to find out if they might qualify for an immigration benefit.
This summer all three attorneys at ILG were honored to be named on the list of 2013 Oregon Super Lawyers. Additionally, Stephen Manning was named as the first ever western region ProBono Hero by the American Immigration Lawyers Association. We recognize that our motivation and passion comes from our remarkable clients and they are truly our partners in the work that we do. To give back to our clients and our community we have increased our outreach efforts by designating August as our free and discounted consultation month. During the month of August the attorneys have opened extra appointments for new clients and everyone who meets with one of our attorneys this month will receive a 50% discount on the standard consultation rate of $100.
We also opened 35 free consultation appointments for our special advocacy day on August 9! We’ve put the word out to our clients and our non-profit partners about our August consultation campaign to make sure that everyone seeking immigration help can get the answers they need. These free and discounted consultations are a great way for us to increase access to quality legal representation for all residents in our community who are seeking answers about their own immigration status and options. As immigration reform talks stall in the house it is more important than ever for immigration rights supporters to continue working hard to create meaningful avenues of information sharing and access to credible legal advocacy.
