Scholarship information
Have you-or a family member-recently applied for college? Are you waiting to tackle financial aid?
Though applying for financial aid can feel intimidating, there’s no need to freeze! Here are some resources to get you started.
1. There are numerous private scholarships available to students regardless of immigration status. Check out:
- MALDEF‘s comprehensive 2014-2015 Scholarship resource guide (or, if you’re applying to law school, check back for updates about their law school scholarship application)
- List of Graduate School Scholarships that don’t require proof of citizenship put together by Educator’s for Fair Consideration (E4FC), and check back for their updated list of Undergraduate Scholarships.

Search for scholarships available to undocumented students:
- Act On a Dream scholarship list assembled by Harvard University
- Hispanic Scholarship Fund’s search tool
- NextOpp tool put together by The Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute (CHCI)
2. Determine whether your school of choice may award merit aid (scholarships funded based on exceptional performance, regardless of financial or legal standing) by searching this database. Make sure to also call and confirm with a financial aid associate at your school!
3. Stay informed and moving forward by utilizing resources to help you understand and simplify the financial aid process.
